Forestry &
Timber.

Forestry operations are among the most logistically remote in UK industry. Harvesters and forwarders work miles from any road, fuel depots, or mains infrastructure. MWE products are designed specifically for the conditions forestry creates — rough terrain, no mains, heavy plant already on site — and work with the tractors, loaders and excavators already in your fleet.

01 — The Challenge

The Problems
MWE Solves Here.

01

Fuelling Plant in Remote Felling Areas

Harvesters, forwarders, timber loaders and site generators in active felling coupes can be 2–5 miles from any access road or fuel supply. Getting diesel to them via conventional bowser lorry is impractical — lorries can't navigate forest tracks, and jerry cans create handling and spill risks. The FuelBag is repositioned by tractor loader, telehandler or forestry excavator directly to wherever the plant is working.

02

Wood Dust at Chipping & Processing Areas

Wood dust — both softwood and hardwood — is classified as a hazardous substance under COSHH 2002, with WELs of 5 mg/m³ and 3 mg/m³ respectively. Hardwood dust is a confirmed carcinogen. Chipping operations, sawmilling, and timber processing generate high concentrations without at-source controls. The DustBag's 2,000L standalone tank and 30-metre oscillating cannon suppresses dust at source without mains water.

03

Forest Track & Extraction Route Drainage

Waterlogged forest tracks impede timber extraction, damage the ground, and create H&S risks for plant operators and haulage. Traditional drainage management relies on hose runs from static pump units. The WetBag's self-contained pump and 2,000L tank can be repositioned by the forestry excavator to manage trackway drainage across large felling sites without fixed infrastructure.

Equipment Built for
This Industry.

Forestry logistics haven't kept pace with the machinery. A modern harvester costs £500,000+ and consumes hundreds of litres of diesel per shift — yet it's still refuelled by jerry can or an expensive bowser lorry visit. MWE products apply the excavator and telehandler already in your fleet to the fuel, dust and water management challenges that currently require separate contractors or manual methods.

FuelBag

Remote Plant Fuelling — Harvesters, Forwarders & Generators

2,000L bunded diesel bowser repositioned by tractor loader, telehandler or forestry excavator. No bowser lorry required on forest tracks. 8-metre hose reel reaches plant without the bowser needing to be adjacent. PPG26 bunded containment as standard — critical near watercourses in forest environments.

DustBag

Chipping & Processing Dust — COSHH Compliance

2,000L integrated water tank, 180° oscillating cannon, up to 5 hours standalone operation. No mains water. Repositioned by telehandler or tractor loader to follow chipping operations or cover fixed processing areas. At-source suppression — the preferred engineering control under COSHH's control hierarchy.

WetBag

Forest Track & Coupe Drainage — No Mains Required

Self-contained dirty water pump and 2,000L storage tank. No mains power required. Repositioned by forestry excavator or telehandler to active drainage problem areas. Pumped water stored in the tank for transport to a suitable discharge point — important near watercourses with Environment Agency permit conditions.

03 — Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions from
This Sector.

Yes. The FuelBag is repositioned by tractor loader, telehandler or forestry excavator — machines already operating on your site that are designed for rough ground. Unlike a road-going bowser lorry, MWE products go wherever the excavator can go. On active felling sites with no made road, this is the key operational advantage.

Wood dust is a hazardous substance under COSHH 2002. Softwood dust has a WEL of 5 mg/m³; hardwood dust (oak, beech, birch) has a WEL of 3 mg/m³ and is a confirmed human carcinogen. Employers must assess exposure, apply engineering controls (including at-source water suppression) before relying on RPE, and maintain those controls. Processing and chipping operations generate the highest concentrations.

No. The WetBag is fully standalone — diesel engine or hydraulic drive options, no mains power connection. The hydraulic option connects to your telehandler or tractor's auxiliary circuit, eliminating a separate engine entirely. This makes it practical on remote forest sites far from any mains supply.

Yes. Forestry operations frequently take place near watercourses and in catchment areas with strict EA permit conditions. The WetBag's 2,000L integrated tank allows pumped water to be stored and transported to an approved discharge point, rather than pumped directly to a watercourse — giving you control over where the water goes and supporting EA compliance.
