Waste management and recycling facilities operate under some of the most demanding dust and environmental compliance obligations in UK industry. Tipping operations, shredding, baling and materials processing generate continuous airborne particulate. Environment Agency permit conditions and COSHH both require at-source dust control. MWE products provide that control without the limitations of mains-connected systems.
Waste tipping, material sorting, shredding and baling generate significant airborne particulate — including RCS from construction and demolition waste, bioaerosols from organic waste, and general PM10/PM2.5. Environment Agency environmental permits for waste facilities routinely require dust to be controlled at source to prevent nuisance and harm beyond the site boundary. COSHH 2002 also applies to workers. The DustBag's 2,000L standalone tank and 30-metre oscillating cannon suppresses tipping and processing dust at source without fixed infrastructure.
Large waste management sites run significant fleets of heavy plant — excavators, loading shovels, compactors, shredders, mobile screening plant — consuming diesel throughout the working day. Getting fuel efficiently to plant spread across a large site is a daily logistics challenge. The FuelBag is repositioned by the site excavator or telehandler to wherever plant needs fuelling, without a separate bowser lorry navigating a busy operational site.
Waste transfer stations and MRFs have complex vehicle flows — HGVs tipping, collection vehicles, compactors, site plant — all sharing space. Pedestrian/vehicle segregation and exclusion zones around heavy machinery are a legal requirement. The BarrierBag's 144-barrier load, handled by telehandler, deploys and reconfigures exclusion zones quickly as site operations change, without a large manual gang.
Waste facility operators face a specific combination of regulatory pressure — EA permits, COSHH, Planning conditions, and increasing scrutiny of dust boundary emissions — with the operational reality of a 24/7 site where mobile dust suppression infrastructure is impractical to install permanently. MWE products are designed to be repositioned as operations move and as tipping faces change, without fixed pipework, mains connections or specialist contractors.
DustBag
Tipping & Processing Dust — EA Permit Compliance
2,000L integrated water tank, 180° oscillating cannon, up to 5 hours standalone operation. Repositioned to active tipping face, shredder discharge, or processing area by site excavator or wheel loader. At-source suppression — the engineering control required by EA permit conditions and COSHH before boundary complaint or enforcement. No mains water required.

Site Plant Fuelling — Loading Shovels, Excavators & Shredders
2,000L bunded bowser repositioned by site excavator or telehandler. Fuels loading shovels, shredders, compactors and other plant at the point of operation. No bowser lorry on the operational tipping floor. 8-metre hose reel. PPG26 bunded containment as standard — standard requirement for waste site fuel storage under Environment Agency guidance.

Exclusion Zones & Segregation — HGV & Plant Areas
144 crowd control barriers handled by one telehandler operator. Rapidly deploys and reconfigures segregation zones around tipping areas, heavy plant operations, and restricted-access areas on waste sites. Doubles deployment rate vs manual methods. Organised storage reduces damage across the fleet on high-turnover operational sites.

Bespoke for Waste & Recycling Applications
Specific waste facility requirements — unusual tipping geometries, large footprint coverage, bioaerosol suppression integration, or specialist containment — may require a custom solution. Our design team works from your brief, manufacturing to S355 specification with UK ISO 9001:2015 certified partners.
View Bespoke →The DustBag provides at-source water mist suppression — the control method most commonly specified in EA environmental permits for waste facilities. Whether it meets your specific permit conditions depends on the wording of those conditions and your environmental management plan. Contact us to discuss your permit requirements — we can help assess whether the DustBag meets the prescribed control measure or supports it.
COSHH 2002 applies to all workplaces including waste facilities. Specific hazards in waste management include: RCS from construction and demolition waste (WEL 0.1 mg/m³); wood dust; bioaerosols from organic waste processing (which have their own assessment requirements). The WISH Forum (Waste Industry Safety and Health) publishes specific guidance. At-source water suppression is the preferred engineering control for airborne particulate.
MWE products are designed for demanding site environments. The DustBag's 2,000L tank provides up to 5 hours of standalone operation before refilling. Multiple units can be deployed simultaneously for continuous coverage. For 24/7 operations requiring extended unattended operation, contact our team to discuss bespoke configurations with larger tank capacity.
MWE products are built from S355 structural steel by UK ISO 9001:2015 certified partners — designed for demanding environments. Routine maintenance involves inspection of the Easy-Lift System, pump consumables (on DustBag/WetBag), and bund integrity (FuelBag). A full genuine spare parts programme is held in UK stock with same or next working day dispatch. Waste sites are a harsh environment — we recommend monthly inspection intervals.
